Crocheter's Attic reaches out!

Good Afternoon!

I hope this blog finds all readers well. I was surprised last night with American Idol. Happy to see they didn't vote anyone off.. yet, I have this feeling adding votes from this week till next might not be all that fair to those who are in the contest. Yet this program was near and dear to my heart.
I sat in tears as I saw the children in Africa and their moms. Compassion in me wishes to reach out to them..to help them in their need. I do not possess money to send..not even the dollar they suggested..sigh! And then I saw the children here in the United States. Those in the mining areas of this country. Even more distressed as I saw those who were devastated by hurricane Katrina are still living in poverty..drugs an deplorable conditions continue. Shame on our president for allowing this to continue. I don't know if any of you realize this..Its been two years since Katrina..TWO YEARS..why?..why, are these people still in this condition? its wrong!.. all I can do is crochet things..I have no other resources..my heart cries out in pain. I have always been empathic. This is a part of me that will not change. I can not turn my head and do nothing.
So again we will try to find a way in which we can help these people.

Crocheter's Attic was set up to reach out to people in need. Its not only babies. That seems to be a popular idea in online groups. But we are reaching out to those in need as Katrina victims and those living in poverty..or what they call "below poverty"..geez! now they have to put levels on people lives. If you are in poverty..well, heck! that's poverty period. The people/children in Africa are in dire straits..not just in poverty. Especially when you look at this country. Our poor are just that poor compared to even a middle income. In so saying this..I challenge anyone reading this to stand up!..do something..anything to help someone in this condition.

My tears fell as I listened to Irish singer Josh Groban sing with the African Children's Choir. It was incredible. Yes, I cried. So now begins my quest to help them if I can. I welcome all ideas.

I posted part of a pattern the last time. Now I will post another part.

Baby Sweater, Right Front

Row 1: Ch 2(counts as first hdc, now and throughout)
turn; hdc in next 27 sc, leave remaining 92 sc unworked: 28 hdc.

Row 2: (Decrease row): Ch 1, turn; hdc in next hdc and in each hdc across: 27 hdc.

Row 3: ch 2, turn; hdc in next hdc and in each stitch across.

Rows 4-8: Repeat rows 2 and 3 twice, then repeat Row 2 once more: 24 hdc.

To hdc decrease (uses next 2 hdc), *YO, insert hook in next hdc, YO and pull up a loop;
repeat from * once more, YO and draw through all 5 loops on hook(counts as one hdc).

Row 9: (Decrease row): Ch 2, turn; hdc in next hdc and in each hadc across to last 2 hdc, hdc decrease: 23 hdc.

Row 12: (Decrease row): Ch 1,turn; hdc in next hdc and in each hdc across: 22 hdc.

Row 11-16: Repeat Rows 9 and 10, 3 times: 16 hdc.

Rows 17 and 18: Ch 1, turn; hdc in next hdc and in each hdc across to last 2 hdc, hdc decrease: 12 hdc. Finish off.

I will give the next part the next time I post a new blog. I hope things are going well in this pattern. I'm off to continue to crochet a round ripple blanket that I got on the Angel Crafts site.
Its really fun and works up quickly.

Until we meet again!

Sweaters in Crocheter's Attic

Good Afternoon!

With Mother's Day coming there are a lot of things if your mom is crafty what can be given as a nice gift. Mom's mostly love flowers/candy..usually a given..but they love even more when they are given a thoughtful gift that surrounds what they love to do.. Some mom's ski..well, not me!..some mom's are into gardening.. a great gift might be a pretty pair of garden gloves along with some beautiful plants already to be put in the ground or in pots. Little children could paint cute designs on terra cotta planters and then put a plant in it.

I'm not a gardener. Mostly because plants don't have a really good life expectancy with me..
But, I'm a crafter. I love yarn..it loves me.. I swear every time I go to walmart at least one skein pops into my cart. Perhaps that thoughtful gift would be a crocheted shawl. Nice on cool spring evenings or on a chilly evening. My youngest daughter gave me Doodle loom to make pom poms..We were trying to remember just what celebration it was that she gave it to me..doesn't matter really. It sure came in handy to embellish hats and sweaters. Regardless of what you choose just remember to think what does mom do that she enjoys? and you most likely will do well in your choice.

Here is the beginning of a sweater pattern that I can share with you. I will give you a the instructions for the body of the sweater. When I next blog I will post the right front of the sweater. This is done in body, right front, Back, and left front. The sweater is darling. I hope you enjoy this..
Materials
Baby Fingering Weight
4 1/2 oz for the sweater
Hook size is D, F

Instructions:
Begin using F hook
Ch 139 loosely
Row1 : Sc in second chain from hook and in each ch across: 138 sc

Row 2: (right side): Ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), turn: work Cross Stitches across to last sc, dc in last sc. 34 cross sts.

Note: Mark last row as right side.

Row 3: ch 3, turn; work Cross sts across to last dc, dc in last dc.

Rows 4 and 5: Ch 1, turn; sc in each st across: 138 sc.

Rows 6-24: Repeat Rows 2-5, 4 times; then repeat Rows 2-4 once more.

Change to a D hook.

To sc decrease, pull up a loop in the next 2sts, YO and draw through all 3 loops on hook (counts as one sc)

Row 25: Ch 1, turn; sc in first 8sc, sc decrease, (sc in next 5 sc, sc decrease) across to last 9 sc, sc in last 9sc; do not finish off: 120 sc.

To work Cross St: skip next st, dc in next 3 sts, YO, working around 3-dc group just made, insert hook from front to back in skipped st, YO and pull up a loop even with last dc made, (YO and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice (long dc made).

This sweater will come out to be a darling soft little sweater. This sweater was passed down. So hopefully there are no mistakes..lol..
In Crocheters Attic this week..a new square to be added.. and another sweater pattern different from this..

Until we meet again!

Crocheters Looking ahead to a new week..

Now that the weekend is behind me, I have much to do. It was a pleasant weekend with a visit from one of my sons that I don't see very often. My favorite Nascar driver won the race on saturday at a raceway that he has never won in before. It was an exciting finish as well.

I am now looking forward to a new week with a lot to do in our group. Crocheter's Attic has a current event that will close on the last day of this month. I have nearly finished my donations for this newborn event. I have three sweaters, two are done in the "Going Home" pattern, and the last in a darling little pattern with ruffles. I have hats for each sweater. I have a pretty blanket done in my cross stitch pattern. Its forest green and really warm. I also have a mint green sweater set finished. I will add all this to our donations as I am hostess for this newborn event. There are so many newborns and preemies in our country who are born to mother's who don't have anything to put on their new babies.

Crocheter's Attic is set up to reach out to help them. I sincerely wish we could reach out to more. However, we are small and most of the ladies barely make it on their budgets. I'm praying for a way to reach out to help more. I wish we had more hands who are willing to learn if they don't know and willing to help if they do. We also reach out to shelters, seniors, cancer patients, hospice, etc. Any group that we find that we can extend ourselves. I once was one of those poor women. I was really thankful when someone reached to me to help me as a new baby was added to a very large family. Thank God for those we have that put a lot of love into the crafting they do!

Our new event, is for both preemies and newborns. I will pretty much being doing the same thing only on a smaller scale. I'm looking forward to doing the "Strawberry Parfait Ensemble" that I found as a free pattern on Annie's Attic. We also will have a new square pattern going out this week. And I'm hoping to release a new sweater pattern as well. Our ladies take part in an exchange of items on a monthly basis and only to those who sign up. The current exchange was for Spring/Easter. Our next one will be for Mother's Day regardless of whether they are mothers to two legged children or four..our little pets become as children.

The new sweater set may be old to some or new to others. Its one I haven't tried. It actually will be a layette set. Kinda fun to try out something new. For those who read my blog and are looking forward to crocheting something new I will send out the pattern on wednesday in Crocheter's Attic. Something fun to do and with new and exciting yarns and threads its like the sky's the limit on this. Also when you have a chance check out Lionbrand's new organic cotton. Its a bit too expensive for my pocket book but looks great!

Until we meet again!

Crocheter's Attic Crafting with Love

Here we are on a grey saturday ..perfect time to write and to crochet. Getting a nice fire started in the woodstove and a hearty soup for dinner.

I finished up that darling little sweater that someone sent to me in Crocheter's Attic..takes longer as it has ruffles..but well worth it I think.. I used a pom pom maker that I received for a gift awhile back. I was so frustrated trying to get two made for the ties on this sweater. I had a good time with the pom pom maker..from now on I'm using one of those.

Today I will put the sleeves on the last sweater I'm making for donations. Might make some hats as it would make the sweaters more complete. I received a darling ghan that one of our members made from a dishcloth pattern. Its lovely. So much so, that I will use it to make another. How clever she was and talented. Her work was well done, doesn't matter if there was a mistake..(I was told there was one, but I consider them a humble stitch..never looked to see if it was there) It is wonderfully done!

Then I will start something called "Strawberry Parfait Ensemble". It was posted in Annies Attic the day before yesterday. It was one of their free patterns. I would love to post that pattern however it is copywrited. They have from time to time wonderful patterns for crafters to use. Everything I make goes for donation or something for my family. Someone said I should sell my things. I don't craft fast..as a result all of what I do is never sold. No complaints, I really love what I do.

In Crocheter's Attic, we started working last on something called an Eyelet Lace stitch square. It has an interesting look to it. We have been working on different stitches to help our skills improve and grow. Its fun to help each other and to see all the wonderful things that we create. I think we will be doing another stitch next week called Aligned Cobble Stitch. I have not yet looked to see if I can find a tutorial for it. Sometimes I can find it and then sometimes I think the stitch must be a designer stitch and no tutorial is available for that. All of the stitches offered in a square are also being made into blankets.. What I think is nice is that while learning a new stitch that improves skill and allows for the crocheter to be able to tackle more difficult patterns, is that the blanket they work on will keep someone warm.

Well, its time to move on out of here, I have a lot of crafting to do today..

Until we meet again!

Crocheting Bits of Love

Fantastic!
Finally, I am into the New Blogger and connected to my other blog communities.. Yes!

Today I decided to write about some of the things we are doing in Crocheter's Attic. We are currently still working on making things for newborn babies and their mom's for Healthy Mother's Program at Paradise Feather River Hospital. I am so amazed at the beautiful work that has been done and sent to me. The generosity and love is so apparent in the things that have been donated so far..

Some of the ladies are working on squares, some on little diaper shirts, while others are working on making blankets using a new stitch we found called the tiffany stitch ..and others like myself are working on sweaters. One of our members sent me the sweetest little sweater. I found the pattern to be so easy. It has ruffles and little ties with pom poms..Its darling.

Annies Attic has the sweetest little baby ensemble. I think I will work on that for awhile and see how it comes out. The one shown is done in pink. When I buy yarn in the beginning of the month I think I will choose yellow. Its been so long since I have used that color. Mostly because new babies that are a bit jaundiced look even more so in yellow.. However, there are many who aren't effected by this color.

Earlier in my blogging I was talking about going to Peru to help the orphans there learn how to crochet and knit. Well, we are still working with the International Children's Network. I'm excited as it helps us reach out to those who need and we will be able to help them learn a trade that actually can help support them and clothe them.. We have had a very generous offer to advertise our group and our teen group. Its something that we have needed all along.. Maybe from all of our efforts will come a way to help the young in this world change it by their own love and support of those who need.

I guess I should finish this. I have a pom pom to finish and then put sleeves on another sweater. Then I will have the opportunity to work on the Strawberry Parfait Ensemble.

Until we meet again!

Sad Heart

This Candle is for those whose lives were taken in VA.
Normally, I would be posting about things we are doing in Crocheter's Attic. I feel very sad right now because of the young people who died in VA. It saddens me that our young people like the young man who killed them are so sick in their minds. I wonder if they as children ever were taught about God. If His virtues, a life lead by Him were taught to them in their childhood.

My blog here is about the work that I do personally and about the work done by some very special ladies at Crocheter's Attic. Its difficult to talk about that work when I wish that I could reach out and make a difference in the lives of the family members left behind. I pray for comfort for them at this time. It is not like a blanket or a sweater will make a difference. It doesn't feed them nor does it keep them warm.

For now, this blog will stand as is. When I return I will post about our newest stitch, and about some things I'm doing personally.

Until we meet again!
Prayers please!

Eyelet Lace Stitch

A new day has begun and I've been really busy taking care of personal things.

I am working today on that little sweater I started awhile back. I have maybe the last two rows to finish on the second sleeve. Then the pattern calls for ruffles. So I will have to locate the areas where the ruffles are to be placed..then add the ties and its finished.

Today in Crocheter's Attic we are going to learn a new stitch called Eyelet Lace. I was searching for a picture of this. Its not a stitch you see a tutorial for often. It will make an interesting blanket. Eyelet Lace reminds me of a climbing shell..but it isn't climbing if that makes any sense.
The directions are simple too.

I am excited as we have our first two teens in our Crocheter's Attic Teen group. One is my youngest daughter and the other a young lady who found us. It will be interesting to learn how she did. For now I wait, most likely this young lady is in high school right now. They will have the same events we do for awhile until they decide to go in the directions they are interested in. I know that they can influence their peers while learning to do something useful for themselves and others.

This is a short entry today. It seems I'm being pulled in other directions.

Until we meet again!

Crocheter's Attic projects

Hello Everyone!

Well, its one of those very rainy days where I live. Its nice though..I enjoy hearing the rain fall. Its just so peaceful. This also makes it a fabulous day to crochet.

In Crocheter's Attic this week we are going to work on a new stitch for our members. Its called the Alternate Puff Stitch. It creates a beautiful stitch giving crocheters the opportunity to hone their skills. This stitch will be made into a blanket for someone in need. How wonderful to receive a blanket that not only is warm but has a beautiful pattern to it as well.

I'm a bit behind in my crafting. Life just sort of gets in the way..lol. One of my sons came to visit me on his vacation. We enjoyed movies new and old. I worked on some of my projects as we watched. But I still managed to fall behind in my schedule..probably due to me talking more then crafting. All is good. It was good to visit. Now onto my work at hand.

At this point, I have a pattern I want to get started on called "Chunky Monkeys" by Maggie's Crochet. I was thinking of Christmas when I saw these. With three new grands coming this year I need to start thinking of gifts. So I'm thinking some of these adorable monkeys and some cute little baby dolls for all the younger grands. The two oldest ones..girl 14 yrs and boy 12 yrs. are causing me to rack my brain for an idea..If I can get them taken care of now it will give me more freedom at Christmas to give to some of the adults.. The baby doll I mentioned above is called Baby Belinda..That pattern was shared from an old friend. So I'm afraid I don't have an author for it..It is so cute!..the doll, dress, hat, binky and little blanket are all crocheted. This is the first time I saw a pattern like this.

Well, I need to scoot..

Fun Time!

Hello, Everyone!
I hope this blog finds you all doing well. I had a wonderful opportunity to spend some time with one of my son's on his vacation. It was a surprise for me as I didn't expect the visit. We had a great time watching a movie in the theatre. We saw the Last Mimzy. It was a wonderful movie, I recommend this. But while we waited for the movie time to come we also visited Michael's.

Oh, I have to tell you I saw amazing yarn. They had one full wall of yarn! and another half the store size?well along that wall. I saw yarns from Red Heart that I thought would make wonderful hats and socks. Things to keep us warm. Especially the orphans in the Andes mountains in Peru. It gets very cold there. I saw yarn to make some new things for babies as well.

I have three new grands coming soon. Two in August right after Laurie's wedding, and one in November around the 1st. At this point I do not know who will have what sex. I'm thinking for Holly will be a boy..we will see soon when she has another ultra sound at 26 weeks. Then I will start a layette for her new baby.

I'm a bit turned around. I had something I was going to introduce in Crocheter's Attic. I think I need to think things out a little and then I will post a new blog about what we will be doing. The last thing I posted was about a popcorn stitch and a pinwheel star square. Look for the next blog coming soon!

Until we meet again!

Crocheter's Attic

Good Afternoon, Everyone!

Spring is here and trying to bring showers. I'm praying for showers of rain and good things. I love spring flowers and the smell of the air.

I managed to get my sweater in teal nearly done yesterday. I think I'm moving slow as there is so much getting in the way of my crafting. I am going to post another stitch for my group. We will be doing the Puff stitch. I will give them a square first and then the blanket. Each blanket we do in our classrooms in Crocheter's Attic will go to one of our events. It will strengthen the abilities of us all and make future patterns much easier to tackle. Then after I have given them separate squares. We will all join the squares to make another blanket. Only this blanket will be for the lady who has done all other blankets.

You know I noticed something about people who crochet things for charity. Rarely do they crochet for themselves. They mostly work at their craft into the middle of the night. Most of our crafters suffer from some sort of pain/ailment, and most only want to reach out and make a difference. So I was thinking its time each lady got to have something nice for herself. Then in the winter months she can keep warm while she is busy making things to keep others warm.

How Crocheter's Attic was born.

I have been crafting for charity since 2003. I was the member of another group. I moderated in that group until my health went bad.. I had heart surgery in December 2005...but I started Crocheter's Attic in April 2005. I have a small group of VERY talented ladies. I noticed since I first started that each woman in both groups had something medically wrong. Now it is of course not a requirement. It was something we held in common. Perhaps because we hurt or know what life is like having experienced it for forty years or more and have raised or nearly raised a family; we have a desire to reach out to those in need in this world. I have seen how God has been taken out of schools, out of our laws..now its money. And we hear people cry out why is this happening? We are a majority now. Most of us are baby boomers. If we honestly look we can see what has happened and why. In this big country, we in Crocheter's Attic are a minority. We are small. This group was started on an inspiration from Him. I decided when I started it that I would not fish in the group I was currently in..I would pray and let Him add. Slowly we have had come to us the sweetest kindest ladies that I would never have found. He showed them the way. We freely speak of God. Not sermon. Just no retrictions..He has blessed us so much. Not just in the group itself but in the lives of those who are members. Prayers are easily asked for and said.
With this strength and belief in God this little group pushes on. We help each other learn. We laugh. We share.

I have found that crocheting, knitting and sewing are indeed ways of healing. Each lady has been blessed with artistic talents. We are crafting (crocheting, knitting, and sewing) for an event. We are learning new stitches and patterns. Our minds are busy thinking about which yarn should I use..which hook/needle size...what does this event need? what colors are available? are there new yarns? are there new patterns. Clearly one person said in the past, when people get old they forget to think..their brains sort of just stop up.. Well, not here..lol.. The day I die I intend to have a hook in my hand. With this said I think I will stop for today. I really want to go get that sweater done so I can start a new blanket..ummm..its the Bobble Blanket at Lionbrand.

Until we meet again!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter to all!

Its such a bright and beautiful day today! Spring here in California has come.
My daughter was outside planting new plants and windows left open. Normally we would be among our family. Just this year we decided to do something different. We decided to stay home and enjoy a peaceful quiet Easter.

I have been working on my crocheting today. I'm still working on the crocheted baby sweater in teal that matches the blanket I just finished. Already I feel a bit anxious as I want to get this sweater done along with a matching hat. Two other sweaters remain that need to be finished.
I'm doing these for my group, Crocheter's Attic. The current event is mine for Feather River Hospital's Healthy Mother's Program. They help women with a low income get services and things they need to be healthy and to have healthy babies. So Crocheter's Attic members have been working on making things for the mothers and babies for this program.

Next month, starts another event, called "Cultures of Life". Another member is hostess for this new event. Every two months we have a new event come up. Crocheter's Attic does not always make things for babies and mothers. We help seniors, cancer patients, homeless, children, abuse shelters, babies and moms, and disaster victims.

Anyway, off the subject a bit. I need to get another stitch square up for the group. These stitch squares give our members a chance to learn new stitches so they can work different patterns with relative ease. I want to get started at making a hooded blanket I put in our files. It looks like so much fun to do.. however, those other things above..sweaters..will have to be done first.
I wish you all a blessed day!

Until we meet again!

Crochet Ideas for gifts

Hello Everyone!
I spent the morning shopping in the grocery store. Noticing that already the aisle for Easter was nearly empty. I thought if I just go today I would avoid all the rush and craziness that usually happens before the holiday.. hmm.. I guess I was a little late..

Today I received in the mail something I ordered from Maggie's Crochet. I wanted this pattern she has for sale called "Chunky Monkeys". They are so cute!...along with the pattern Maggie sent me a pattern for the "Starburst Sun Catcher"..would make a fantastic gift!.. and finally a pattern to make a "Newsboy Cap" from Caron yarns.

What most of you don't know is that I have a very large family. All of my children are grown and its grandkids that would love that monkey. I also have a baby doll pattern with clothes and a blanket for the baby doll I'm going to use. I think I will start on them now for Christmas. I know it sounds early. When you have a crochet group, Crocheter's Attic, crocheting for those in need, and a large family with little children getting started is a very good idea..Oh, yes and I have a wedding too that I need to make something for.

The wedding is for my youngest daughter, Laurie. She would love for me to make a ghan for her gift made out of crocheted squares. She even picked the square. Its called Waldo's Puzzle. The above square was created by Chris Simon. My daughter just fell in love with this. So this is the square I'm working on right now.. I saw a pattern for a Pinwheel Star Granny Square. It was really pretty. It might be a nice one to mix among Waldo's puzzle.. I'm not wondering if she wouldn't like that pattern just a bit more..

In Crocheter's Attic, we are working on learning the popcorn stitch. While this stitch is not new, there are new crafters who haven't ever done this stitch and older crafters maybe its been awhile and need a refresher. Ok, so its been awhile for me too. As I scanned the pattern and then watched the tutorial I posted I realized it was one of my favorite stitches but not many patterns call for it. I'm still working on my sweaters. Hoping to finish them soon and go onto a new project. Like the Baby Bobble blanket..

Well its time to call this a wrap!..
Until we meet again,

Crocheter's Attic

I was just thinking about how fast this year has already gone. Easter will be here soon. Very soon after it will be summer full of crocheting projects that I'm doing for Crocheter's Attic, another summer full of heat, fires in California, graduations, a wedding, and new babies coming into the world. Seems like time has really been moving. Time to get moving on all those crochet projects!

Yarn is screaming my name saying pick me, pick me! No, I haven't lost what mind I have. I have been working hard to get Crocheter's Attic moving in a very positive position. While we are just a small online group of 32 ladies, we have been working hard to help those in need. Some ladies in the group knit and sew. Most of our ladies in the group crochet. I have been working in conjunction with Cindy Williams and Denise Roberts to get new things happening in the group that will allow us to reach out in a broader way. I'm very excited about this project. It will enrich our lives and the lives of others.

We have been having classrooms to teach stitch technique and blanket patterns in Crocheter's Attic. First, we worked on the Trinity stitch, then the Seed stitch, and now the Popcorn stitch. Its been fun helping each other out and learning new things as we crochet to make things for donation. I have some very sweet ladies in my group. I once asked God to bless my group and to add to it.It was the best thing to ask. He sent some wonderful people to us. They are generous, kind, warm, and talented. Most of them have physical ailments that would deter most people.

I am now working on three sweaters. I had set aside two because I needed more yarn. Meanwhile I picked up a blanket in teal colored yarn that I have been doing in Dc and started work on it again. I managed to finish it up in between my children visiting with grandchildren and life in general.Having done that I looked at the finished blanket and thought..wow!..I should make a sweater to match! Right about here you are probably be thinking why start something new when I have the other two sweaters to do? I did get the yarn for the other two. I was just so excited about finishing the blanket I just had to get a sweater started. I am now almost at the point where I stopped on the other two. This sweater is in what is called the "Going Home Sweater"pattern and it was created by a lady who has an online group called, Angel Crafts. We use this sweater because its easy to do and works up pretty quick for charity work. I will admit I have made this for my grandbabies. One of the other two sweaters I'm doing is the same pattern. The last sweater is called an "Easy Baby Sweater". The style is a bit old fashioned and yet adorable. It even has ruffles.

Until we meet again,

Learning

Hello Everyone!
I am in the process of learning about new places in the world. Sound kinda corny? No, I'm serious about this. I have lived in my little corner of the world for so long, my eyes have become blinded to only what is around me and before me. So I'm starting with a place my heart has always or seemed like always wanted to go.. Peru.
In my last post I posted a flower from there..wasn't it just fabulous! And to think if I had not looked I would not have found that this country has this sort of flower. There were others that I found. I think I will post that here and then go on..

Like I said, I'm looking at and learning things about Peru. Did you know that in Peru that if a child has only one parent they are considered orphans? Amazing huh?..Well, some day soon I would love to help out. Help those children get warm. I can crochet, I am learning to knit, and I can sew. Certainly some of those gifts can be used to help these children. Maybe even find a time in my life where I can go teach these children to crochet and knit.. How awesome.. just to think of going to a country so rich in its natural state..and then have the opportunity to teach the children? Imagine what they can teach me?.. I so want to do this.

Right now I have an online group, Crocheters Attic. We crochet, knit and sew for people in need. In November we will be making things in correlation with International Children's Network. This opportunity will give us the chance to make things to keep the children warm in that country. Our teen group which is still in its fledgling state will be working with them to in the future. While we work to help the children stay warm, our young teen group will be learning to crochet and knit. They will have the opportunity to reach out to the children too. Teaching our young teens to reach out now will hopefully have a wonderful ripple effect.

I'm going to post a picture of Peru later on. Much of what I found was Machu Picchu. The country is so rich in plants and animals. They have a rainforest. Something I have always wanted to go to. Not crazy about big bugs and snakes..but that's a learning situation for me too.. Well, I'm off to crochet for a bit..I have two sweaters to finish. One is a "Going Home Sweater".. and the other is a sweet little sweater that my members Ann and Lynn sent me..I finished a teal colored blanket yesterday..its so nice.. would keep a baby nice and toasty. Until later! Leslee

Greetings..

Hello Cindy!..
Thanks for inviting me to come blog here. I have been working to finish that ellusive teal blanket. Remember? It was the one you said I should put down for awhile.Well, I did but then I found I had to pick it up as two sweaters I was working on needed more yarn to complete the sleeves. So now I'm working on the border of the blanket..have two sides more to finish I think.
Then comes the sweaters to get finished.
Off this subject.I was looking at pictures of Peru. I love the tropical flowers and the scenery. Mostly what came up was Machu Picchu. Fantastic pics. I really wanted to see something more.
Ok, off to work on posts and crocheting.
hugs,me!
